So many people complain about the weather here in the NW. Yes we do get rain, not as much as people think but we do have a lot of gloomy gray days during our winters and this year it has continued on into our spring so people are really starting to grumble. I think since I have lived here most of my life I am used to it. I don't suffer from the depression that a lot of people get when they transplant to our area.
Right now I am chatting with a friend from Alabama. She is waiting for the tornado that is ravaging through her state to get to her area in a few hours. She is prepared or at least as prepared as you can be for those type of storms.
So when people here complain about the weather I have to remind them what the rest of the nation and world (let's not forget Japan's catastrophic ordeal) and I tell them ,"I will take the rain thank you very much."
I will live with gloomy wet winters and mild summer days. I will live with Rainex on my windshield and my raincoat always hanging on the back of my front door.
Even the thought of a massive earthquake doesn't frighten me as much as the thought of being whisked away in a tornado. I would love to see the sunshine this week but if all it is going to do in my neighborhood is rain, I'm good with that.
