Okay, you can mock us a little bit because our winter storms are babies compared to what a lot of the country lives through. Let's remember though when we get snow we get ice and I don't care how many wheel drives your car has it slides. I know, our ditches can prove it. Okay, maybe it's not the vehicle but the operator of the vehicle. Either way ice is not very nice. We were all bracing for 4 to 10 inches of snow this week. The first day we got two. That's enough to cancel school here. Seems wimpy I know but let's not lose sight of the fact that our school district has I believe four mountains in it. Not just hills but actual mountains. I forbid my children to make friends with some people just so we don't have to drive to their houses. lol Anyway 2 inches of snow in a bus up a mountain is reason enough to shut down our schools.
The next day we got four more inches of snow. It snowed lightly all day. Just enough to pack on more to what was already there. Then the fun came. It got warm and things started to melt then it got cold and all that melted snow was now frozen ice. Then the freezing rains came. That frozen rain continued through the night and all day today. Six inches of snow added with constant frozen rain makes for very, very heavy tree branches and thick ice on the roads. This morning we had to cut down part of a tree because the branches were hanging so low they were covering up the mailboxes. The whole time we were outside you could hear branches snapping and falling all around us. We had branches down in the driveway that had broken through a fence. The neighbor's tree branches were hanging over our fence to the point you couldn't even see the fence. Roads were blocked by fallen trees. The freeways are like driving on a washboard because they haven't plowed them. It's a mess out there and inside has been touch and go. We lost power twice today but luckily just for a few hours.
I'm just saying our little snowstorms are just that, little, but to us they are a great cause of concern. Just ask my eight year old who just said a prayer and grabbed his blankets to hunker down in the basement. He's not taking any chances of one of those snapping branches coming through our roof.

| Day One: So excited to have a "snow day" from school. |
| Just enough snow to make every thing pretty and toss a few snowballs. |
| Third day of no school. Today the ice rain hit and is weighing down all the branches. Branches and trees are snapping every where. |
| Ice covered snowy roads make for very treacherous driving conditions. |
| This picture is off the news. You can see we don't have much snow but it is still very dangerous conditions out here. |
