Coolest Museum Ever!

At least that was the consensus of this group of Cub Scouts.  Our Asst. Den Leader found this guy and his very cool museum of antique farm equipment and machinery. He gave Grant's den a grand tour of some of his finest items and then gave them time to run around and try them all out. The boys loved it. And one of the best parts was the fact that this is in our neighborhood, just a couple minutes away. We had no idea it was there. We will be going back!

This is Mike, he is the owner and grand collector of cool things.
With no warning at all Mike flipped the switch and all these machine started running. He had water pumps and oil pumps and air compressors and rock crunchers, even a could of whistle blowers.
Here Grant is blowing one of the whistles.
Here he is loading the rock cruncher.
This is a huge hay spike that spears the hay bail and loads it into the barn.
Grant is removing the corn kernels from the cob.
The end result.

Mike is starting up the tractor that is connect to another type of corn shucker.

You throw the cob in and out comes the kernels.
Grant is getting his turn with the broadcaster. It is a tool that spreads the seed out in the field. Mike filled it with rice so the kids could see how it works.
They loved this because they were all getting shot with rice.
Here is Grant, with Mike's helper, using a special potato planting tool.
This one is used for planting corn or other large seeds.
It takes a lot of "horse" power to operate this shovel.
Grant and B. working the plow.
Sharpening the tools with a foot pumped powered grinding stone.
Hand powered drill.
Mike taught the boys about share cropping. They each got to pick three cobs of corn. They gave two to Mike and they took one home.
It was such a fun tour. The boys got to see so many old items. Did you know a large pot and a plunger type item is a washer machine?  The boys do.  :)
